Education is one of the core areas of work of Bapuji Youth Association (BYA). We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to attend school, learn with confidence and build a better future, regardless of their family’s economic circumstances or where they live.
For children in rural and disadvantaged communities, poverty, long travel distances, lack of transportation, limited access to educational resources and gaps in academic support can become significant barriers to education. For many families, even basic educational expenses can be difficult to meet.
BYA works to address these barriers through a combination of mobility support, digital education, academic assistance, educational materials, scholarships and targeted support for girls and children with disabilities.
Our approach goes beyond helping children enter school. We seek to help them attend regularly, remain in education, strengthen their learning and develop the confidence and skills required for their future.
- BICYCLES FOR RURAL STUDENTS
Making the Journey to School Possible
For children living in rural and remote communities, distance can become a major barrier to education. Many students travel considerable distances to reach school, while their families may not have the financial capacity to provide bus fares or other transportation.
For families living in poverty, regular transportation expenses can become a significant burden. As a result, children may attend school irregularly, miss lessons and, in some cases, eventually drop out.
To address this challenge, Bapuji Youth Association has distributed bicycles to 750 rural students over the years, helping children overcome transportation barriers and making their daily journey to school easier.
The programme has been implemented as a practical educational intervention: when children have a reliable means of reaching school, they are better able to attend regularly and continue their education.
The initiative has helped reduce the transportation burden on economically disadvantaged families while giving students greater independence in travelling to and from school.

- DIGITAL EDUCATION FOR RURAL CHILDREN
Bridging the Digital Divide
Technology has become an important part of modern education and future employment. However, children from rural and economically disadvantaged communities may have limited opportunities to access computers and develop basic digital skills.
Recognizing this gap, Bapuji Youth Association established a digital education and computer training centre for rural children, creating an opportunity for them to learn and gain practical exposure to computers.
The programme is designed to ensure that rural children are not left behind in an increasingly digital world.
Both girls and boys from Classes 5 to 10 participate in the training and are introduced to essential computer and digital skills.

Our Goal
We want rural children to have opportunities to develop digital confidence comparable to children from semi-urban and urban communities.
Digital education is not simply about learning to use a computer. It is about giving children access to knowledge, skills and future opportunities.
- EVENING TUITION CENTRES FOR RURAL CHILDREN
Strengthening Learning Beyond the Classroom
For many children from economically disadvantaged rural families, the regular school day may not provide enough time or individual attention to understand every lesson.
Parents may also have limited educational backgrounds and may not be able to assist their children with homework or academic difficulties. Children therefore need additional opportunities to revise lessons, clarify doubts and strengthen their understanding.
To respond to this need, BYA conducts evening tuition programmes for rural children in 20 villages across two mandals.
Each tuition centre supports approximately 30 children, providing them with additional educational assistance after regular school hours.
The Centres Help Children To:
- Revise lessons taught in school
- Clarify academic doubts
- Receive additional guidance
- Complete and understand schoolwork
- Strengthen basic academic knowledge
- Improve their learning confidence
- Receive additional support in subjects where they experience difficulties
The centres provide a supportive learning environment where children can ask questions, receive individual attention and learn at their own pace.
Creating Opportunities for Rural Youth
The programme also creates local employment opportunities. 20 unemployed rural youth are engaged through the programme as teachers/instructors, enabling them to contribute to the education of children in their own communities.
This creates a meaningful connection between supporting children’s education and creating livelihood opportunities for educated rural youth.

Keeping Girls in School. Supporting Their Dreams.
Bapuji Youth Association gives special importance to the education and continued development of girl children from rural and disadvantaged communities.
Girls from economically vulnerable families may face additional challenges in continuing their education. Transportation difficulties, household responsibilities, financial constraints and limited access to educational resources can affect their ability to remain in school.
BYA therefore provides targeted support to help girls overcome these barriers and continue their education with greater confidence.
Our Support for Girl Children Includes
Bicycles for Educational Mobility
BYA has provided 350 bicycles to girl children to help address transportation barriers and make their journey to school easier.
Educational Materials
Girls receive educational materials and other learning support to help them meet the requirements of their schooling.

Helping Children Continue Their Education
For children from economically disadvantaged families, the cost of continuing education can become a serious challenge. School fees, books, stationery, travel and other educational expenses can place considerable pressure on families with limited incomes.
Bapuji Youth Association has therefore provided scholarship support to rural girl students, helping economically disadvantaged children continue their education and meet essential educational needs.
The organization has provided scholarships to girls studying from secondary education through higher education, together with educational materials and stationery according to their needs. The programme has been an important source of support for girls who might otherwise face difficulties in continuing their studies.
Support for Children with Disabilities
BYA also recognizes the additional challenges faced by children with disabilities in accessing education.
As part of its educational support initiatives, the organization has provided assistance to children with physical disabilities, including tricycles for children with cerebral palsy, helping them overcome mobility barriers and reach school with greater independence.

Through scholarships, educational assistance and practical support, BYA seeks to ensure that economic hardship or physical disability does not prevent a child from pursuing education and realizing their potential.

Equipping Children for Learning
For many economically disadvantaged families, the cost of basic school supplies can be difficult to manage. School bags, notebooks, stationery and other learning materials may seem simple, but for families struggling to meet their daily needs, these expenses can become an additional burden.
Recognizing this need, Bapuji Youth Association has been implementing the distribution of educational materials to school children as a regular programme for many years.
Girls from economically vulnerable families may face additional challenges in continuing their education. Transportation difficulties, household responsibilities, financial constraints and limited access to educational resources can affect their ability to remain in school.
Every year, children from economically disadvantaged families are identified and provided with essential educational materials to support their schooling.

An Annual Commitment
The educational-material distribution programme is a regular annual initiative of BYA, through which approximately 200 children are supported every year.
By continuing this programme year after year, BYA seeks to strengthen educational continuity and ensure that children from vulnerable families have the basic tools necessary for learning.
