Women’s empowerment and their social and economic development are important priorities of Bapuji Youth Association (BYA). The organization works with rural women to strengthen their skills, create livelihood and income-generation opportunities, improve economic independence and build confidence to participate more actively in their families and communities. Our programmes are designed to help women make productive use of their skills and local resources, develop sustainable livelihoods and lead their lives with greater confidence, dignity and self-reliance.
1. Bamboo Basket Making
Women are trained in bamboo basket making using locally available resources and traditional skills. The programme helps women strengthen their practical skills and create opportunities for income generation through the production and sale of bamboo products.
2. Candle Making
Candle-making training provides rural women with a practical skill that can be developed into a small-scale livelihood activity. The programme encourages women to use their skills productively while creating opportunities to earn additional income.
3. Goat Rearing
BYA has supported rural women through goat-rearing livelihood initiatives, enabling them to develop livestock as a productive household asset. Goat rearing provides an opportunity to generate income while building a sustainable source of livelihood within the community.
4. Cows for Milk Production
Cow distribution for milk production has been undertaken as a livelihood-support initiative for rural families. The programme enables women to develop a productive asset and generate income through dairy activities, contributing to greater household economic security.
5. Tailoring
Tailoring training equips women with a practical and marketable skill that can be used for self-employment. Women can undertake tailoring work within their communities and develop an independent or supplementary source of income.
6. Vegetable Shops
BYA supports women through small-scale vegetable shops as livelihood opportunities, enabling them to participate in local trade and generate income. These activities promote self-employment while meeting everyday needs within rural communities.
7. Poultry Rearing
Poultry rearing is promoted as a small-scale livelihood opportunity for rural women. The activity enables women to develop household-based income-generating enterprises and make productive use of available resources.
8. Broomstick & Broom-Handle Making
Broomstick and broom-handle making has been developed as a practical livelihood activity for rural women, building on locally available skills and resources. The initiative creates opportunities for regular income generation and has supported women in developing more sustainable and independent livelihoods. BYA’s profile records broomstick manufacturing as a continuing women-centred livelihood programme.
9. Training on Women's Participation in Panchayati Raj
BYA conducts training and awareness programmes to encourage women to participate actively in Panchayati Raj institutions and local governance. The initiative focuses on building awareness, confidence and understanding of women’s role in local decision-making and community development.
10. Women Empowerment & Awareness Sessions
Women empowerment sessions are organized to strengthen women’s awareness, confidence and understanding of their rights, opportunities and responsibilities. These sessions encourage women to participate more actively in family and community affairs and work towards greater social and economic independence.
11. Pillow Cover Stitching
Pillow-cover stitching is another livelihood skill promoted by BYA to help rural women develop practical income-generating capabilities. Women receive training in stitching and production, along with support for raw materials and market linkages, enabling them to turn their skills into a sustainable livelihood. The programme aims to help women earn independently while strengthening their confidence and economic security.
